Everyday Tech

Society is largely structured into a two-tier system.  Most people on the Main Worlds are at Late TL 6/Early TL 7, while colony worlds are generally somewhere in TL 6.  The Government and Military usually exist in defended enclaves at TL 9 (perhaps 8 on a Class-B colony world.)

However, the following applies:

Power

Most equipment is electrical and powered from Ultra-Tech cells.  Thus in the gritty industrial city, the steel mill, the trains and buses are all electric with considerably more endurance and less pollution than their 1940s-era counterparts.

While some cities have familiar power transmission infrastructure, many homes run on storage batteries that are periodically swapped or recharged at the local power service station or power delivery truck.

Communications

Some internet-like facilities are available from Public Libraries, but only for State-approved databases.

Even on colony worlds, every home has a TV (it’s considered safety equipment for public announcements and must be fitted.)  TVs can be remotely activated by the Government.

Cell phones are restricted items.  All radio transmitters must be licensed.

Note:  It is illegal to produce more than 49 copies (being substantively similar, not identical) of a document without State approval or a Publisher’s Licence.

Medicine

Most medical facilities available to the general public are consistent with the general Tech Level.  However, Merss who can demonstrate Sufficient Value To The Dominion may seek approval to be treated at a higher tech facility.  This is more likely to be approved for Fs rather than Hs and Hs rather than Gs.

However, most major hospitals irrespective of TL have advanced Genetic testing capability for identification and eugenic purposes.
