“If it comes to that I’m authorised to assert that claim, but a lot of this is about avoiding having that discussion, as it raises tensions, and times are already tense enough.
“Also, I gather you prize your status as an ‘independent contractor’, which makes that course of action again a last resort.”
Glover will pause to see if Karmen or Lia wishes to add anything or respond.
She tilts her head, pondering his response.

“Can you hazard a guess as to Zayaire’s reaction if I were to…assert that freedom? I don’t imagine he deals well with rejection…”
