Her coffee order arrives with his sparkling water.
He’s wearing an expensive casual jacket over a white shirt with an open collar, well-tailored chinos and a belt and pair of boots that look to be made of real leather. He’s accessorised with a quality wristwatch and dress sunglasses (just a hint of a tint – not enough to obscure his eyes), expensive but tasteful rings adorn his fingers and he looks to carry his ID Tags (tucked away) on an expensive dress chain.
When everyone has their drink and settles in he says, “so, I’ll come right to it.
“I am here as an agent of Sceleste Raina.
“I am authorised to be quite candid as Mer Silver-Rose is a trusted associate of my employer, and you, Captain, have proven a discreet contractor in the past. However, I remind you that these matters are not for open discussion.
“Captain, you have contracted, albeit indirectly, for my employer in the past, and you, Mer Silver-Rose, have a current contractual obligation.
“My employer has two concerns, firstly over matters of demarcation with your current employer, Zayaire Preston-Lischost. Such matters have arisen in the past and she is keen to avoid them.
“Secondly, and of greater issue, the Vizierate have taken an interest in a previous passenger of yours, Captain. A man by the name of Willard Argyle, also a former contractor and arrangements for whose passage were made by our organisation. We believe the Vizierate is very keen to locate him and my-,” he glances at Lia, corrects himself, “-our employer does not want the Vizierate to take a broader interest in her affairs as a result.”
He pauses, inviting initial questions or comments.
Lia is watching him with interest as she sips her coffee and listens.
“Just a side query; I understood there were two of you. Where is your associate?”
