E-225: Merchant Freighter Spanial (Docked at Zarg’s World Highport), Control

Question:  Do either Lia or Oliver look into the shuttle’s Sleeping Cabin?

They leave the Shuttle and head back through the Cross Corridor to Control.

Inside it’s empty.

As noted previously, Control is a narrow, functional space with three acceleration couches and work stations facing away from the door.   The decor is a functional palette of grey.  There are actual viewports opening onto a vista of stars in front of the work stations, but they tend to be partially blocked by video screens.  The are a number of jump seats along the rear bulkhead and in one corner of the room a fold-down table to allow meetings, layout space, or for anyone on watch to work or have a meal.

Usually the left workstation is assigned as HELM/NAV, the right as COMM/SCAN and the centre as CONN, and usually they are referred to that way (or just as Helm, Scan and Conn.)  However any workstation can run any function.

Lia would not bother with the Sleeping Cabin. Up to Oliver if he stuck his nose in!

She will point out the workstations in Control and ask if Karmen showed him around earlier.

No, I don’t think Oliver will. He’s mostly following Lia at this point.

“A little, mostly just to sign me up. I haven’t had a good look into the system yet.”

    She frowns slightly.

“You may not get a chance, depending on what you end up doing on the trip. Jennie’s our XO and Pilot and Ipan is our Comms Officer. Sometimes I’m up here and Jennie let’s me do some hands on training but mostly the Captain takes the other chair. It’s gets a bit crowded if there are extra bodies.”

  4. Oliver Starr says:

“I’ll find time. Doesn’t take me long to learn, especially computers. I can also fill in for Ipan if he’s unwell or busy. But we will see, they may have little use for me.”

    She shrugs.

“There will definitely be time, especially if you’re given a shift. It’ll be up to the Captain and maybe Ipan to decide your duties. And your level of access. That stuff’s not really my area.”

  6. Oliver Starr says:

“We will wait for that eventuality when it comes then.”
He sits at a terminal and sees if he can access comms and sensors.

  7. Lia Silver-Rose says:

    Lia watches him.
