E-001: Previously on Dominion Space…
Previously on Oliver’s story…
Oliver’s exploits to his departure from Pristine are detailed here… Since then he and his crew travelled to Zarg’s World in pursuit of the ship known to have transported Willard Argyle off Pristine. On the way he has completed much of his research into Argyle’s papers and watched a number of vids found in Argyle’s collection – many restricted. On arrival at Zarg’s World, Oliver found the ship in question at the Highport docks – Karmen Intuveker’s Spanial. Armed with his evidence, Oliver convinced Karmen to confess – she admitted taking Argyle from Pristine to a restricted system inside an area of space with diplomatic consequences for Dominion government ships. Oliver’s pilot, Alan announced as a Legion officer that he could not fly there, and in any case the use of the Vizierate sloop was potentially problematic. Oliver had a long session with Erin where they discussed options – she noting that Minor Vizier Frederick has various unpleasant leverage against many of the crew and that failing to produce results might have adverse consequences. But Erin has no idea about the depth of Oliver’s conflicting motivations. Consequently Oliver came to a decision to go undercover, appearing to renounce his Vizierate employment and have Spanial carry him into Separatist space…
Previously on Lia’s story…
Since hooking up with the Spanial crew, Lia has gradually become aware of some of the crew’s extra-legal activities, and participated in some of them, becoming involved with some interesting people in Octant 7. All of which activity has kept her from fulfilling a contractual engagement she made with a client on Captree. Neither that client nor the interests in Octant 7 being fully resolved, and no-one knows how deep Lia’s truth is buried. Now, warnings of Vizierate interest in Spanial’s activities have caught up with the ship, and Karmen is seeking to appease the Vizierate by doing Oliver’s bidding…
Now…
Oliver and Lia have finally encountered each other, it remains to be seen how they will deal with the complicated obligations they have incurred, all the while dealing with each other; to what extent will their respective baggage define them?Merchant Freighter Spanial, Docked at Zarg’s World Highport, Habitat Ring Corridor
At Karmen’s request, Lia is leading Oliver to the ship’s sick bay, to be his temporary quarters until the ship’s other passenger is disembarked. From his earier inspection of the ship, Oliver has learned that the Habitat Deck is one level only, and consists of an inner ring of about three-quarters of a circle with rooms around the outside. The Common Room is at one end of the ring and the Sick Bay at the other with the Control room at the apex of the arc. Between them are the cabins, three between the Common Room and the Control Room and five between Control Room and Sick Bay. Doors of the end of the corridor lead to port and starboard airlocks and the Hanger, which sits in the missing quarter of the circle. A door opposite the Control Room leads to a lift and a ladder well that can be used to access the Engineering space and the Cargo Hold above, at the front of the ship. The Ring Corridor is painted in a pale grey colour, with many access panels around the inner walls and recessed hand-holds on both sides. Ipan seemed unhappy at the news that Oliver was the Comm/Scan officer on his previous ship, and the player has requested a roll – so roll Psychology.

On the way to the sick bay Oliver will ask. “So, who are these guests we’re being wary of?”

Lia flashes a look at Oliver and then makes a face.
“A couple I would much prefer not to have to accommodate right now.”
She watches him curiously for a moment as they walk.
“I’ve never met a temporary Vizier before…”
“Are they going to be any trouble.”
He shakes his head.
“Just a Vizant.”
“I’m going to do my best to ensure they won’t.”
A beat.
“Just a Vizant… but only sometimes?”
“Well let me know if I can help. That’s what I’m here for now.”
He ponders a moment. “Yeah, let’s go with that.”
“Sure.”
She seems somewhat distracted.
Hey GM, has Lia been to the Sick Bay?
Happy to move on to next post.
