Cargo Master Lia stares meaningfully at Karmen, “And the visitors from Sector 3 that we’re expecting…”
Karmen responds cautiously to Lia’s look, appears to reconsider, “Huh. Might be better if we did our own chores at that.”
She turns to Oliver, “well for sure we don’t have much room right now. Probably have to put you up in the Sick Bay until we get to Mundo Zargo, nowhere else really, and you’re not bunking in with me, that alright?
“So, working passage. You say you can sit Control Watches, you better show me your ticket.”
She’s referring to Oliver’s formal Spaceship Operations qualifications, which he will have in the form of a combined read-only storage widget/card in his backpack. NB: His space ops quals don’t say anything about his educational qualifications, nor the fact that he’d be useful (though not actually qualified) as part of an engineering team.
Oliver pulls out the widget and hands it over. “I’ve been sitting whole shift watches on my own ship for the last hundred or so cycles.”
