C-153: Zarg’s World Highport, Target Freighter
“Follow mee too xargo xolld.”
The alien turns and leads them through the open inner airlock door, pauses to hit a control and close the outer door behind them. Assuming Oliver is willing to follow, he will experience the following:
Just beyond the airlock is a door to the left, through a small viewport in the door Oliver can see that leads to the ship’s hangar where an auxiliary craft is taking up most of the space. The alien, however, turns right and leads them down a circular corridor past what are presumably cabins, turns left into a straight corridor and into an elevator cage.
“Xwatch fingerss.”
The sides of the elevator are open, with only a metal railing and an open cage overhead, when the elevator starts up, the walls move past the open sides; and a preassure hatch opens above the cage for the elevator to pass through.
The elevator moves up past several levels of engineering spaces before passing through another pressure door into a small room. Oliver hasn’t seen anyone else.
“Xargo operrationss.”
The room contains a console and orientable acceleration chair, a vacc suit locker, airlock and the elevator. Built into the ceiling is a large viewing window to the ship’s cargo hold on the level above this room.
The alien walks over to the console and presses a control. Overhead through the viewing window, the darkened space illuminates with lights.
The space is a vast, empty cylinder about 20m high and 10m in diameter, with large doors at the far end, currently closed. Near the doors, a robot cargo arm is dormant in its storage bay. Near one wall a small open-cockpit space utility vehicle is parked. Not far from the hold’s interior airlock, a single crate, about the size of two large suitcases, is secured to the deck.
“No xargo rright noww.”
Does the crate look to be powered?
Oliver stands near the feline and peers into the console. “Do you remember a powered crate that was carried on this ship?”
