Lia’s pretty sure he’s surprised to see her, but he has sufficient self-control that she can’t be certain.

As his eyes light on her he gazes for several seconds and then blinks slowly as he allows a hint of a smile to suffuse his face and he abandons his relaxed posture, sitting up in his chair.

He addresses Lia directly, ignoring the others, “Tanner said that the new crew member ‘was memorable’, and as usual he is right.  Shall I call you Emerald?”

Behind her, the doors swing closed.

Jonathan stands beside them, hands clasped lightly across his front.  Tanner moves to stand beside Zayaire, but off to one side so if you’re sitting in the seats he indicated, you’d have to turn to look at him.  

Karmen and Samuel, trailed by Kwint, move to the indicated seats.

Out of the corner of her eye, Lia can see that slight look of confusion she’s seen previously repeat on Kort’s face when Zayaire says ‘Emerald’.
