The jump timer ticks down to zero, hits it and keeps going to -51 before the gut-wrenching feeling of jump exit washes through Lia.

Jennie murmurs, “that’s not good.”

Ipan says, “initial scan running.”

There’s silence for 20 seconds or so then Ipan says, “Initial scan completely clear, commencing detail scan.”

Karmen says, “It’s not supposed to be clear, there’s supposed to be a planet here.  Jennie…?”

Jennie responds, Lia can detect an edge in her voice, “working on it.”

Karmen says over comms, “Gregar, Prrri, retune the drives as quickly as you can.” 

She drums her fingers on the arm of her seat, while listening to her earpiece and scanning her console, “insystem comms jump light lag is severe.”

Kort looks across at Lia and raises his eyebrows.
