Most ships, even Spanial’s little shuttle, run solely on the electrical power generated by their fusion reactors.  However the tiny Hopper needs an explosive mix of fuel to power its flight that needs to be handled carefully.  He seems reluctant to let Lia play with them on her own (despite that she will have some safe handling knowledge of such things from her Chemistry knowledge and her Freight Handling).
