9-328: Pristine, Mine Site One, Chase Turn 1
Patrol Vehicle
Yeah, that was Alan’s roll I think.
The PSO reaches back with a grunt and thumbs the locker.
Oliver reaches over and finds inside:
- 3 stun grenades
- 1 electrolaser carbine
- 1 shotgun
- 1 rifle that looks a lot less ‘hunting’ than ‘sniper’
He can make a PER roll to use the scope on the sniper rifle, though it’s rather awkward to organise the long weapon in the vehicle’s cabin.
Some obvious options:
- Oliver can fasten his belt and leave the scope on the rifle, making his PER check at -3
- Oliver can leave his belt unfastened and leave the scope on the rifle making his PER check at -2
- Oliver can use the shorter electrolaser carbine instead, leaving the scope on, though it’s scope is not as good, thus giving the same overall modifiers as above (this basically alters which weapon he winds up holding)
- Oliver can take his time, put on his belt and take the scope off the rifle saving the PER check for next turn with no negatives
- Oliver can make a DX check to get the scope off the rifle and make a PER roll this turn
- If he fails he’ll have to wait until next turn
- If he makes the DX check by 4 or more he can also fasten his belt
- Oliver can open the window and lean out with the rifle making his PER check at 0 or -1, depending on if he makes at HT check due to the freezing wind; he can’t wear his belt while doing this
Pursue Action
The PSO rolls the optional acceleration check, using the vehicle’s acceleration capability and resulting in a +1 to the action roll.
Pursuit roll effective skill = 12 (Base skill) -1 (Bid) +0 (Patrol Vehicle Hnd) +1 (acceleration roll) -2 (unlocking the locker) = 10
Roll 7 = success by 3.
The PSO puts the power on, drifting the Patrol Vehicle slightly sideways as it chases the skidoo down the descending curve of the slush-covered road, making up distance.
The distance between Cagnotti and the Patrol Vehicle is now Short.
We need to complete Oliver’s actions inside the Patrol Vehicle before I resolve Cagnotti’s action.
Oliver will do the DX check trying to remove the scope and use it this round.
He rolls 9 on DX and 8 on PER
