The Control door is set in the corner of the ladder well and looks like it opens outwards.

The areas containing DD and UU are where the ladder goes down (DD) and up (UU).  The floor of UU is solid mesh, whereas there is a hole where DD is.  About 3m above the UU section on Deck 12 is an open space for DD on the deck above and the mesh is solid above DD, does that make sense?

With the spin as it currently is, there is a general sense of ‘up’ and ‘down’ as the designers originally intended, although gravity is weak enough that Lia can really stand on any surface and it’s just like someone is applying gentle pressure to her in the approximate direction of the floor.

All of which is to say, the easiest way to get through the hole is to use the ladder; Karmen climbs up through the hole in the ceiling to Deck 11.
