8-277: Merchant Freighter Spanial – Engineering


Gregar frowns, “Lia, I’m not mad that Karmen gave me a dressing down, I’ve been doing that to myself far more effectively than she could.  If I have any complaints about that it’s that she did it to Ipan when I would have preferred to deal with him myself.  However, he is a member of the Control crew and reports to her not me, so, Captain’s prerogative.”

He shrugs.

“We screwed up, stop trying to take the blame and let us learn the lessons that will help prevent it happening in the future.”

The last is actually said in something approximating a normal volume level.

    She moves away.

    “I’m not trying to take the blame, just… sharing some of it. Ipan is pretty angry with himself. I think he thought he was mad at his mother for the talking to but he seemed to come to some sort of realisation when we were speaking.”

    She hands Gregar the manual and props herself somewhere to eat whatever she heated up earlier.

    “I was going through this in Control. Comparing it to to the checklist programs. I found quite a few anomalies.”
