Gregar often speaks quietly, when Lia first came aboard she could barely hear him, but it’s been ages since he whispered at her like this.
With a little more volume, “Lia, as a pilot you know as well as I do that the Service Check is designed for exactly that situation, where a vehicle has just had maintenance work and needs to be thoroughly pre-flighted before operation. You were doing the correct thing and were put in danger because of shoddy work. As Chief Engineer, that’s my responsibility. I’m just glad you picked up the error.
“It will be fixed and I will send it for your review.”
He cuts the comms.
Lia will stare at the dead comms for a moment.
“Oh dragon’s tits.”
She sighs.
Then she grabs the Hopper’s manual (fair to say she brought that with her?) and starts searching for the service check to see if the errors tallied.
