8-213: Merchant Freighter Spanial
Stars in Her Eyes
By my count:
I may have missed one, but I think that’s it.
Studying the Hopper Manual
Both Prrri and Gregar enjoy Lia’s company and so she won’t have any trouble convincing either of them to help her with the Hopper.
In doing so, she actually gets a sense of their respective strengths and weaknesses.
Gregar seems to know an awful lot about large spacecraft and how they all hang together. He’s also somewhat versed in the software systems that make them run, about which Prrri appears relatively clueless – if it’s not an option on the terminal’s menu, Prrri probably can’t help.
However, Prrri knows things about smaller craft and shuttles that Gregar doesn’t, and appears to understand things about how aerodynamic and atmospheric effects can have an impact on vehicles to which Gregar defers. Prrri seems to have a better appreciation for the smaller, simpler systems on the Hopper. Also, while Gregar can look at a problem and declare it’s an issue with the controller software while Prrri is scratching his head (sometimes literally), Prrri seems much better with his hands (Paws? Claws?) He’s an accomplished machinist and can do all sorts of magic with a lathe and a welder.
At a minimum, Lia has overcome any familiarity penalties that might apply to her operating the Hopper, and may get bonuses in some circumstances.
Hyperspace
At some point in the journey, Jennie will let people know that the ETA at Foofor is BB07 on Lia Day 38.
This is the first time Lia has heard anyone actually name the system they are going to, and it’s possible Jennie mentioned it by accident.
Lia isn’t required to be in Control at that time, but she can be if she wishes. She may want to be suited up as it will hopefully be Hopper testing time soon after.
Where will Lia be at jump exit?
Does she want to do anything else before arriving in restricted space?
Lia can be in Control when they enter system, ready to test the Hopper.
She’s basically been focusing on learning the manual and systems for the Hopper, so she’s good with that being her main focus.
