8-151: Merchant Freighter Spanial

For clarity, the Hopper isn’t a land vehicle, it’s a small space vehicle.  It’s like an open-topped ute with pylons where the wheels would be that end in low-power thrusters.  You have to wear a space suit while flying in it as it has no environmental systems.

Lia can fly it using her Aerospace skill at no penalty.  The fact that she and Kwint went to get the operating manual means she gets to avoid the hilarious (and possibly quite dangerous) moments where she accidentally blows up the thrusters because you have to turn on the fuel pump switch before running the ignition sequence…and stuff like that.

It’s arguably a little reckless to be putting Lia at the helm of Spanial – a roll of 15 and she would have done some damage to the vessel, but for whatever reason, that’s what Karmen decided to do.  It may be worth noting that usually-confident Jennie seemed a little nervous in the Captain’s chair too.

Jennie does, however, give Lia a reassuring smile in response.

Ipan opens the door quickly in response to Lia’s knock; seems he’s awake.

“Uh, hi Lia.  We left dock? Mo- Karmen let me sleep through departure?”
