8-106: Zarg’s World – Hybridyne
After the game, Lia and Kwint make their way to the domestic flight terminal, where they board the Hybridyne that will take them to Gravport.
Like most air vehicles in the Dominion, they Hybridyne has a mostly flat top, although there are light-weight aerodynamic fairings at the leading edges. Unlike the blocky aerostats that are most commonly used for commercial planetary air transport, this aircraft has a streamlined design and large pair of wings with vectored-thrust outlet ports fed by a huge pair of jet engines set close-in to the main fuselage.
They board the Hybridyne, strap in, and experience zero-gravity as the overhead grav-plates cut in and nullify the vehicle’s weight. The vectored thrust outlets point down and the Hybridyne takes off vertically into the sky, slowly picking up forward speed as the thrusters angle back. One the vehicle is at its cruising altitude and with enough velocity, the frame creaks as the pilot cuts power to the plates and the vehicle is supported by the lift generated from Zarg’s World’s thin atmosphere flowing over the wing surfaces.
With 0.5G of gravity now in the cabin, in-flight service begins and Lia and Kwint can enjoy their Job-long trip to Gravport.
Is there anything she wants to do on the trip?
Not particularly. She just checked her messages, so I don’t think there’s anything else.
