7-157: Illuminator – TOSO Bar

For people who have worked and lived in close proximity for over two HectoCycles, conversation is still a little stilted.

Chris has some funny stories, but they often seem to involve real life slapstick humour, “…and then he disappeared over the balcony!”

Dicard seems interested in Dominion finance, money and politics, “…so there’s something going on with the Governor of Mundo Zargo and the Finance Bureau is witholding the balance of trade report…”

Fromm is quiet, and seems to tackle every conversation as a problem to be solved, he is complementary about the bar’s selection of wines, and at one point buys everyone eighths of a wine he likes to try, “…everyone, take a moment to enjoy the nose…”  It is tasty, although may be too dry for Oliver’s sweet tastes.

Alan proves he really is grumpy and cynical, his contributions to the conversation being mostly dark observations on human nature.  Erin calls him on a bullshit anecdote at one point and he doesn’t actually seem to mind, “…yeah, well you would say that, wouldn’t you Malan…”

Erin engages both Oliver and Dicard at one point in a discussion about probability, and both Fromm and Alan join in, although Chris seems to feel left out of this one.

Drinks can morph into dinner, or Oliver can take his leave.

Either way, you can have him direct the conversation, react to any of the above, or we can jump forward to NextCycle and the Illuminator coming into dock.

  1. Oliver Starr says:

Oliver is observing how his crew blends as a unit and which pairs seem to click better than others, making mental notes that will go into dossiers later.

He rolls a 17 vs whatever roll that might require (I imagined psychology) so he just enjoys the alcohol a little too much and might be feeling a little burnt out after so much work.
He stays for dinner, he doesn’t add much to the conversation himself and might even be spending too much time trying to analyse people and doesn’t mention enough to be an active participant in the conversations.
Someone might even catch on to his intentions.

Otherwise, I’m happy to move forward if nothing else is noted.
