7-137: Illuminator – Oliver’s Office
Task Bar
“Your responses are logical and reasonable, as I would expect. Also, I thank you for your candour. I hope it’s through open discussions like this that we can reach a state of true trust and address that paranoia.”
He begins ticking Oliver’s points off on his fingers as he speaks.
“Firstly, you should meet some more Viziers if you think being socially adept is a membership criterion. I’ve met some whose idea of being socially outgoing is to look at your shoes instead of their own when they talk.
“I don’t think Frederick is specifically planning a dumpster, but then again, I may not know. Or, as you say, I might be lying.
“Pragmatically, it will take time to dwarf Frederick, but in the mean time my argument is still valid – better performance means more influence.”
“Your final point is a good one. Would you like to share your concerns in more detail?”
I’m noting that Oliver has Psychology skill and has spent quite some time around Dicard now: Nothing Dicard has said has been with any hint of satire, he has been quite serious the whole time. The man who barely spoke to his team the whole trip out and back from GRRAS to Pristine did not bat an eyelid when talking about being socially outgoing. When he spoke of dwarfing Frederick, it was as if it is simply something he assumes will come to pass eventually.
If you wish, give me a roll for Oliver to assess Dicard’s motivations further.
12 vs Dicard.
Oliver responds only to the last part. “Things were going bad, then they suddenly were made good with very little effort on my part. I can only worry my luck will turn so suddenly again. That’s all there is to it. “
