7-136: Illuminator – Oliver’s Office
Coffee
OK, let’s say he does that. In response, Dicard glares thoughtfully and says, “I see. I look forward to your more complete summary.
“It would be good if you could have something on your progress to date prepared for a briefing when we reach Zargonia.”
(Oliver has to do that, not Jacob. Jacob will roll dice for Oliver and I will tell Jacob what Oliver knows for his briefing.)
Task Bar
Dicard says, “that’s what I was getting at earlier. I want everyone to work together and be as useful as possible. The more we can support each other, well, I suppose the more we can support each other. The more power and influence I can gain in the Vizierate, the better I can keep the team together and safe. The better the team performs, the more likely it is I can have that influence.”
Coffee:
“I will. Don’t worry.”
Task Bar:
Oliver will give Dicard a quick look over.
“You know I’m clever so I’m going to tell you how some of us may be thinking going along that logic.
Firstly, as a Vizier yourself, we can assume you’re quite talented socially. That being said, even if you’re saying ‘I’ll be a reliable employer’, we don’t know how good of a liar you are.
Secondly, who’s to say that as soon as we’re done, Frederick doesn’t have a figurative dumpster to throw us all into?
Thirdly, assuming you do have our best interests in mind, what’s saying that you’ll be able to obtain that influence, one that will dwarf that of Frederick, who has his heritage and an extensive resume at his disposal.
Finally, we don’t know if everyone on the team is someone we want to be supporting yet. That’s the problem with throwing strangers of various backgrounds together.”
Oliver pauses. “I can imagine one who might have issues with a long engagement with two of our members.”
“I’m not saying I distrust you, Richard, but in a situation like mine you have to assume that everything is going to be going south eventually. I’m simply hoping that this can become something that actually gives me a new start and can take that paranoia away.”
