7-117: Illuminator – Mallory’s Cabin

You might have to tell me what he’s interested in.  He can just copy everything (although there is the whole ‘having classified documents he isn’t cleared for in his possession’ thing.)

His ‘skim’ will tell him:
  • Mallory and her team are going to Zargonia to use MAPACOA to integrate widely dispersed astronomical radio telescope data to use as an intel tool against the Naki
  • Radio telescope data is highly classified
  • Some notes on the Naki phrasebook suggests Mallory can read the Naki language
  • He has a sense Mallory is a lot more interested in the Yarg than the Naki, but everyone else is more interested in turning her expertise to anti-Naki military purposes
  • She also apparently has a passing interest in Felline porn, which turns out to be a thing; but perhaps it’s purely for academic purposes
  • If Oliver didn’t know previously, he learns that Felline speech has a soft mode and a loud mode that contains different words for the same concepts and some concepts that can only be conveyed in one mode or the other, loud mode seems to be used for such things as hunting, combat, communicating position and distance, and reproduction (which makes the Felline porn something best watched on mute).

  1. Oliver Starr says:

At the moment he’s only really interested in what will benefit him personally.

How long has he been doing this for?

He’s probably intrigued by the radio telescope itself as an instrument.

I honestly don’t think he’s going to find anything that he believes will be useful to him at this time.

He’s not going to steal any data unless it is something expressly involved with the viziers he’s working with.

If he has found nothing, he’ll wipe his digital prints if possible and get out of it. He’ll try and put everything back to the way he found it
