7-054: Illuminator – Bar Chill

Time

Actually, I thought they’d both just finished shift and it was Blue (while Chris might be up for half a bottle of wine for breakfast, Fromm wouldn’t be drinking quite so early.)

Farewell

Fromm sighs, “very well, I suppose I shall have to buy my own drinks from here on.”

Oliver can go do the things.

Dicard

Dicard responds, There are copies at GRRAS, but you have the only copies here.  Do you need more space to do your own backup?

Various combustibles

Smoking

Jumping ahead, if he doesn’t know already Oliver will observe that smoking is a thing, but mostly in Zargonian cities.  He would also have seen it on his home planet of Russell’s World.  Smoking in artificial environments is discouraged and usually restricted to designated areas if not forbidden outright.  People on ships and space stations who smoke are usually pegged as ‘dirtsiders’ or ‘grubbers’, ie people from lower class upbringings on habitable worlds.  That said, there are tobacco plantations – there was a big one on Russell’s World where Oliver grew up.

Got a light?

Lighters are not unheard of, they are common among the lower classes, although some people smoke self-igniting cigarettes.  There are probably some super-sensitive areas where it would be considered a weapon or a dangerous device.  Electrically powered ones are probably more common than fluid or gas, although less versaitile.

Elecrolaser Arson

See this entry for the description of Electrolaser techNB:  As a civilian-issue variant of a Legion model electro-laser pistol, Oliver’s is non-lethal only, unless you can justify why it should be otherwise (NB:  Many Legion issue models are also non-lethal only; but many are not).

See this entry for the GURPS rules on setting things on fire (of course there are GURPS rules for setting things on fire, and of course we have to reference two different rule books to answer your question.  It’s GURPS!  I do think that unless you have a memory like Oliver’s, GURPS is actually better played like this than at a table.)

So, Oliver’s electrolaser pistol does 1d-3 burn damage from the laser part of electrolaser, but it’s a thigh beam attack so that’s 0.1 to 0.3 damage.  So, it will probably ignite things in the Super-Flammable category, but not otherwise.  I might allow something from the highly flammable category on a critical hit.

Next

Is there anything else he’d like to do?  Otherwise we can skip forward a bit.

  1. Oliver Starr says:

Fuck me my phone reset my comment twice to this…

I was at work and wasn’t sure what order the shifts were.
    So Fromm works, sleeps, recreates.
    Oliver works, recreates, sleeps?

He’ll return to his office and continue on his work, then grab dinner, go to his room, write his dossier on Fromm and work on his glasses before bed.

He will give a little tsk upon reading Dicards message and mumble something like, “that would’ve been too good to be true,” before replying. “No, it’s fine. If thats the case there’s no time to be gained and I’ll stick with my current approach.”

Oliver had no intention to do this program he just wanted to know something.

    Cool. Thanks.

Happy to skip ahead to the next thing.
