7-019: Illuminator – Briefing Room 1201

When everyone is seated Nanny begins, “Thank you for joining me dears, this shan’t take long.  I would like us to use our time productively while we are aboard the Illuminator, so I wanted to give you an overview of the trip and brief you all on the assignments that Vizier Richard and I have agreed on while we travel to Zargonia.”

She indicates the terminals in front of everyone.

“You will find a trip summary downloaded to our project workspace and a link in your messages, along with details of your assignments.

“So to begin with a trip overview, as of now, 211.352 BG06, the Illuminator is currently outbound from GRRAS and will reach the jump point at about GR05 NextCycle, where we will jump for Way Station Witnish.

“Our expected arrival at Witnish is 211.360 in Blue Shift.  We expect to be at the Way Station by 211.363, where I am advised the ship will lay over with a scheduled departure of BR03 on 211.365.”

She looks over her glasses, “I would prefer to make best speed to Zargonia, but we are catching a ride opportunistically so that is not for me to decide.”

“Everyone is free to take liberty at Witnish for the duration of the ship’s lay over.”

“On departure from Witnish we jump for Zargonia with an expected arrival some time on 211.377.  The Illuminator will dock at Zebulon station, hopefully no later than 211.380.  On arrival at Zebulon station we will disembark from the Illuminator with all our project gear and take a shuttle to the surface of Zargonia.  I expect the project team will be staying in Purpleton, at the foot of the Vizierate Tower while we determine our next move.”

She pauses a moment to let what she has said percolate, then says, “While aboard ship we all have duty assignments to improve the team.  Vizier Richard and I will be taking advantage of the Illuminator’s personal development opportunities for Viziers, and planning for the project.

“I have arranged for the Under Commander to spend some time observing and working with the Illuminator’s control crew and honing his already fine ship operations capabilities.”

Alan grunts and nods, he seems tentatively pleased and searching for something to complain about.

“Victor, I have arranged for you to spend some time in the medical centre working with the medical staff.  They’ll also assign you some gear you can bring on the mission when we leave the ship.”

Fromm nods noncommittally.

“Erin, at RB01 NextCycle, please report to the Chief Engineer on Deck 35.  He will organise for you to have a quick orientation to the ship prior to the Jump.  You will continue to work with the engineers as assigned until we reach Zargonia.”

Erin’s eyes widen and she breaks into a little smile.

“Chris, please report to Vizierate Warden Wesley Reed-Hurley.  He will advise you where in due course, I believe it will be somewhere on the Rec deck.”

She gives him an over-the-glasses look, “and Chris, be sure you are fit for duty.”

He nods, a little abashed.

“Oliver dear, we’ve already discussed your assignment, I’d like you to keep working on the Argyle materials,” she goes on to explain the stuff he’s discovered and we’ve already covered about him having his own office and a dedicated, non-networked and secure computer to work with.

“Apart from Erin’s early start NextCycle, I would generally like us to work in Green Shift, unless directed by the Illuminator’s crew to whom you are assigned to do otherwise.”

“Unless I advise otherwise, I would like us to reconvene at GB07 on 211.362, just prior to our expected arrival at Witnish to discuss our progress with our assignments.”

She looks around, “Vizier Richard, would you like to add anything?”

Dicard shakes his head.

“Any questions?”

  1. Oliver Starr says:

Oliver has no questions and he knows what to do.

His first step will be to write that program on the dedicated computer.
