7-011: Illuminator – Mess and Recreation Deck
Glasses Programming
Thank you, I have noted Oliver’s inventiveness and he can begin working on the program. I’ll say he can take one of two approaches: Try a simple proof of concept design with limited functionality (average complexity) and then build the full thing, or go straight for the full-blown solution (complex complexity). There’s a fair difference in timescales, but that wasn’t a bad roll for timing. So, your choice.
Study
OK, let me know.
In the Mess Deck
Oliver obtains some edibles as described, and settles down to eat near two likely candidates.
So far he has noticed that people are somewhat distinguishable by their clothing. Both now and during the course of any future eavesdroppings, he will determine that the ship seems to be home to a bunch of Vizants (regular Vizierate employees) and contractors, with an occasional Vizierate Warden, and there seem to be a small number of non-contractor passengers. He might assume there are some actual Viziers somewhere aboard but so far he has not seen any. The people aboard are also separated into Crew, Project Staff, Service Staff and Passengers. Over the journey he will piece together the following:
Ship’s Crew | Project Staff | Service Staff | Passengers | |
Vizier | ? |
| No | No |
Vizant |
|
| No |
|
Warden |
|
| No |
|
Contractor |
|
|
| No? |
Passenger | No | No | No |

The two Vizants nearby spend a short time discussing the facilities on GRRAS, then move on to a technical discussion of the work they’re going to do aboard ship in preparation for their arrival at Zargonia when they get to use the MAPACOA Massive Parallel Computing Array for their simulation of Hypermass thruster interactions.
The mood of the room is pretty casual, with a slight buzz in the air from the impending departure.
The 1 Moment low-impact maneuver warning sounds and announcement warns everyone to prepare for undock.
He’ll go the simpler route. He’s in no rush, he’s just sort of testing the technology. If he discovers it can be used effectively he’ll probably get more into it.
I assume a low impact doesn’t mean much? He should be right to stay seated? I gather he knows what he has to do.
When he’s done eating he’ll dispense of his contaimer or plate appropriately and sit somewhere else near another group or pair and absent mindedly fiddle on his pda while he drops some more eaves
