Playing to her eager audience, Jayline glances around conspiratorially, “Well, Governor Haugh is on Zargonia at the moment, but I hear both Assistant Secretary Crough-Wittle and Panchas Tog will be joining us.”
She waits for Aston to be suitably impressed, and he dutifully plays his part, responding in surprise, “Really, Governor Haugh is out of system? I hadn’t heard.”
Jayline wrinkles her nose, “not many people have. That story about her being unwell is just that, a story!”
Jayline lets that sink in for a moment, then follows up, obviously seeking a reaction from Aston and eyeing him closely, “And of course, Zayaire will be here later.”
He says, earnestly, “Well Jayline, that is hardly in doubt, is it?” He lays a hand possessively on Winta’s arm, subtly drawing attention to her, says with a flick of his head and a small moue of his lips that transforms to a smile, “I can’t wait to see what he’s wearing!”
Jayline doesn’t react, instead turns to Winta, “So who is your delightful companion, Aston?”
Lia may respond (also to anything above, as usual), or if she waits a beat, Aston will respond on her behalf.
Lia will respond with appreciate hunger to the gossip, especially about the Governor, whilst filing everything away for possible future use.
Zayaire’s name catches her attention, especially combined with the pointed way he’s mentioned along with Aston’s reaction. Something else to be filed.
Lia will ply Jayline with charm but allow Aston to introduce her. Best to let the client control what/who he wants her to be.
