6-088: Mundo Zargo Highport

There is no further response from Aston immediately.

No probs re money.  FYI, Oliver has a ‘running status page‘ where casual changes like inventory, money health and fatigue etc. are tracked.  You may wish to consider doing something similar.  I’ve put together a summary below that may be useful.

Lia’s Disadvantages and Other Outlays in Monetary terms

Addiction

ʄ630 per dose (typical rate), required every 3 Cycles

Debt

NB:  I can’t find a firm reference for this, do you have one?

ʄ12,000 every 30 Cycles, split into:
Child Support:  ʄ1,050
Identity Maintenance and Monitoring Service:  ʄ10,950

Travel Costs

First Class cabin rental (meaning she has a standard cabin to herself including all meals) of ʄ450 per jump, irrespective of distance, if she books in a block of at least 5 jumps.  She is also free to continue use of the cabin and free meals while the ship is in port.

ʄ450 x 5 = ʄ2,250 in advance for 5 jumps.  Lia is currently fully paid up for the next 5 jumps.

If she agrees to help with cargo operations, she gets a ʄ225 rebate on accommodation per end that she helps.  I don’t think I made it clear, but because she helped during the trip, Karmen will refund the full ʄ450 for the jump to Mundo Zargo, although she hasn’t yet done that.

Cargo Rental

Lia has rented one ton of Spanial’s cargo space for her own use.  Lia is currently fully paid up for the next 5 jumps.

Karmen will charge her ʄ450 per ton of cargo space per jump, irrespective of distance, if she books in a block of at least 5 jumps.

Lia can purchase additional space on a per-jump basis at a rate of ʄ30 per ton of cargo per light year, provided Spanial has the space available.  This means the actual cost per trip is variable based on the distance of each jump.

NB:  In volumetric terms, one ton occupies space in the Spanial’s cargo hold approximately equal to a cube 1.5m on a side, ie:  A big crate’s worth, or what you can pack into the back of a short wheelbase light van, or two utes if each was loaded up to the top of the cab.

Cargo to Mundo Zargo

I completely forgot to figure out what was in Lia’s cargo already.  If you like we can say she has a 1 ton micro freight cargo (ie she doesn’t own it, she’s just shipping it) comprising 3x1m crates.  I’ll say she’s agreed to ʄ30 per ton of cargo per light year.  It will have been taken off the ship as part of the unloading process and she doesn’t have to worry about it.

The Spanial came into Mundo Zargo from Adal, which is a 22.4 light year trip, or worth ʄ672 to her.

Microcargo

Most cargoes in the dominion are measured in tens, hundreds or even thousands of tons.  However there exists a market for small cargoes that are just a bit to big to go via the mail.  Tramp traders like Karmen often pick these up, but casual micro traders like Lia can exploit this niche to make a little extra Money…

Accommodation

Accommodation ranges from ʄ2 per Job (=ʄ18 per Cycle ) for a capsule rack to ʄ120 per Cycle for a good quality hotel room.  If she wants better, Lia will have to go searching in the Upper Habitat.  Rooms are typically  ʄ60 –  ʄ90 in the Lower Habitat area.

You are talking figures which I need more headspace and time to fully process so I will just respond to the immediate concern of Lia’s accommodation.

If the 120 room can give her the things I mentioned she needs i.e. Full bath and full length mirror then she will take it. Otherwise she will go searching in the uppers.
