6-067: Merchant Freighter Spanial

Gregar’s Visit

I suspect Gregar and Lia are still poring intently over Spanial’s schematics when Jennie arrives to relieve Lia at the end of Blue Shift on day 2.  At that point Jennie says it’s time to do the Turnover maneuver and Gregar retreats to Engineering to monitor it.  Jennie says noting about their conversation and Gregar gives Lia a little nod and a smile by way of farwell.

Ghost Rider

Well done Lia ๐Ÿ™‚

With that practice and the conversation with Gregar, I think she’s done with any familiarity penalties, although she will still have to operate Spanial on her default skill level.

Did she record her own practice runs?

Zoner!

Will she take her hit in her cabin after her shift?

You’re right about legality; they’re illegal by default and legality reduces the point penalty of the disadvantage.

It’s unsurprising Zoner! is illegal in the Dominion – many things are.  It does make finding it remotely difficult and risky, so yes, a job for when she gets to Mundo Zargo.

Clients

Don’t badly screw up a Computer Operations roll to update her online profile page.  (Normally I wouldn’t bother rolling for this but because she’s doing it remotely through Spanial’s comms and has to set up the connections through the remote call with light speed lag herself it’s actually a little tricky.)

I wasn’t imagining Lia trolling bars, although she might usefully attend certain parties or functions sometimes.  However, how and where she places her advertising, and how she might seed some of her word-of-mouth would affect the number and type of clients that contact her.

OK if she doesn’t make a practice of directly contacting her regulars, but they do need a mechanism of being made aware of her presence.  I wasn’t going to go into details of how that might all work, although we could if you wish (could be a note on someone’s news feed that her page has been updated, could be a discreet advertisement in the right publication, could be a mention in a society page, could be someone she’s engaged to drop her name strategically who does such things professionally, could certainly be a former client who mentions something to a friend or acquaintance.)  So, I was going to use the rolls suggested to determine how well or badly that might all go; does that make sense or would you prefer me to use a different mechanism?

Cargo and Approach to Mundo Zargo

So, during her short shift on Day 4 Lia can organise the cargo storage that Karmen asked her to (easy Merchant or Freight Handling roll).  Then Jennie will stay on watch just past when her shift has ended and do the docking maneuver.  She will call Lia to Control prior to arrival and ask her to watch and assist.

Lia will have some time to do things before arriving at Mundo Zargo, is there anything specific?

Lia will give Gregar a smile and thank him for his help and for bringing dinner.

I think she would have recorded her practice runs so she could review her performance.

She will take her hit in her cabin. She’s trying to be discreet and not have it get in the way of the running of the ship.

Rolled an 11 for Computer Operations. That’s a pass by 2. I like the idea of her attending certain parties and functions. That would be fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

I need to go back and check the skills you suggested before I make the rolls, so I’ll finish this comment and then come back and put the rolls in a separate comment. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Rolled an 8 on Merchant/Freight Handling (they’re both a 12 skill level)

Lia will be interested in watching and assisting Jennie on the docking maneuver. She’s starting to enjoy working with the Spanial now that the intimidation has worn off.

Since she’s been to Mundo Zargo before, she will spend some time going through her wardrobe with a view to possible clients and/or parties that might require specific dress codes. She will work on some more lapidary work and finalise a new perfume she’s been working on. Nothing more specific than that.

K, I rolled a 7 for Savoir-Faire (High Society) vs a skill of 14. Rolled a 9 for Current Affairs (High Culture) vs a skill of 14 and an 8 for Carousing. I’m guessing IQ based is just a straight IQ roll since it’s usually HT+0 and Lia’s IQ is 13.

Is that enough? Let me know if you want more.
