5-173. Suffolk Small Food Court

I do find it interesting that GURPS as written doesn’t have a generic social interaction skill.  By description, the closest is Diplomacy, but that’s really “I want to convince someone of something or get along with them in such a way that if I screw it up it won’t backfire.”  Because, as in this instance, just being honest and sincere with someone to try and form a social connection with them (Diplomacy, a Hard skill) is actually more difficult under the rules than engaging in a sustained lie (Acting, an Average skill).  There’s a GURPS Supplement called GURPS: Social Engineering that I’ve been thinking about buying that might have some suggestions about that, but in the interim I’ll give a bonus.
