Oliver is asleep when the ship jumps into hyperspace.

When he wakes he begins work on the books.

After a while a pattern emerges:  Argyle has written the date he finished the book on the cover and a letter, either a C, E or G.  ‘C’ volumes seem to have cryptographic notes in them, ‘E’ seem to contain notes on his electronic engineering work and ‘G’ contain everything else.  The books do not slavishly follow this general trend though and there are elements of everything across all three.
The small notebooks do not follow the above pattern at all.

By the time the ship emerges from jump 8 Cycles later, Oliver has examined 416 books and has 23 to go. He expects to finish those next Cycle.

Oliver is required in the Control Room for the jump emergence.
When the ship comes out of jump with that familiar stomach-churning and brain-fogging lurch, Oliver’s job is to start scanning the area around the ship for hazards and threats, while Alan tries to figure out exactly where they are and Dicard tries not to heave his guts up – it seems space travel really doesn’t agree with him.
Oliver finds no threats, but although the ship has emerged 2 Cycles ahead of schedule, Halcyon swears.  It is a bad jump exit and the ship is 6 cycles travel from the Way Station.
He plots a course and points the ship heads toward it.
The ship has emerged near the end of what will be Oliver’s normal space watch.  Dicard decides to keep him company rather than risk his stomach in the zero-G stairwell twice in a short period.
“Any progress?” he asks.
NB:  Periodic ministrations from Dr Fromm mean Oliver is fully healed of his wounds and has no scars.
 
Let me know if there is any particular area Oliver would like to focus on and give me a couple of rolls to see how he is going with synthesising the content of the exercise books.

    G will be his last concern… Electrical Engineering being his new hobby he’ll probably be most curious about that. (Skill has been added, I’m yet to pick a final ability, so far Oliver has obtained Traps, Throwing and Electrical Engineering.)

    However the cryptography won’t go ignored.

    I’ll reply to Dicard after Jacob knows roughly what Oliver does.
