3-161: In the Pipe Run of Argyle’s Lodge II

On the side of the box is what looks like the head of a stout cotter pin, about 8mm in diameter, that can be removed (or inserted). The end of this pin has a ring on it, like on a keyring.

At the bottom is a small metal eyebolt that looks like it might move in and out and next to it a plug with a thin cable (Oliver will guess it’s an optical cable) leading off to join the newer of the two wiring bundles attached to the pipe.  The cable is quite long and goes down to the floor of the tunnel and up again on the pipe-side, it isn’t stretched across.  It joins the pipe about 3m back behind the box, at a point Chris and Oliver have already passed.

There are indications of a hinge on the lower long edge and a security-screw opening latch on the top (ie where you need the appropriate weird-shaped screwdriver to get the thing open), but Oliver doesn’t think the box could be opened while attached to the adhesive lump.

The adhesive lump is set hard and the accumulation of dust and dirt on the box suggests it has been here for some time.

Embossed faintly in the metal on the side of the box facing away from Oliver and Chris are some words, Oliver is able to make out that they read, “THIS FACE TOWARD ENEMY”.

  1. Oliver Starr says:

“That… that looks like a Claymore.” (so the dangerous point isn’t directly facing us? So we’re safe at the moment?) “But I think we’re okay… as long as we don’t go past this point…”
