3-156: In the Utility Conduit of Argyle’s Lodge
The double doors unlock successfully.
Chris pokes his shotgun through the hatch first and then crawls through after it.
His bulk ahead makes it difficult for Oliver to see.
As noted previously there are pipes and ducts and cables on the left-hand wall, plus it is punctuated with occasional bits of jutting-out metal brackets and other annoyances.
A number of metal ladders are bolted to the right-hand wall. They seem to be for access to small openings at the top of the left-hand wall where bundles of pipes and cables feed into what must be the false ceiling space Oliver observed in the Common Room. These openings are only large enough to put an arm through.
The distance between the actual walls is about 0.8m, but with all the bits and pieces on each side the practical space of movement is less than that, and the arctic gear doesn’t help.
In the floor below is a metal grating about 30cm wide over the top of a shallow trench, Oliver can see a couple of large pipes that must run under the floor of the Lodge turn into this trench and run along it.
About two-thirds of the way along the room, the floor slopes down.
See side elevation diagram.
Oliver will try and find the most optimum torch path to provide Chris with extra light. As the slope approaches I’ll ask “Is there a door at the end, any floor panels?”
I made an equipment list under Oliver’s profile, I believe I’ve used 4 flares and gained two sets of 6.
