Chris and Alan look grim.  Chris checks his weapon.

Dicard frowns, “that sounds…”

He waves his pistol aimlessly, groping for the words, “…rather dangerous.”

    I’ll throw my torch into the room. Uncertain if the lack of fire was from lack of bullets or lack of heat.
