The Rotunda

The Rotunda is part restaurant and part social area; there certainly is a dedicated eating area.  It’s general access and not restricted.

There are data pads on the table through which one can order, and one by the door so people can browse before entering.

The tables overlook a lush garden outside, lit at night with multi-coloured artificial lights that slowly change hue.  It seems a breeze is blowing up out there and the garden is swaying in the wind.

The Rotunda itself is mostly glass with green-toned structural elements between.  The roof is glass and shows the stars, the walls mostly glass panels and shows the lit gardens outside.  The floor is green tinted opaque glass tiles with faux crack patterns that resemble the veins on a leaf.  Tan-coloured linen adorns the table tops and the crockery is green glass.

There is a small room near the entrance, which is not made of glass, from which the servers emerge periodically with food.  It’s too small to be a kitchen – Lia may suspect some sort of conveyor system from somewhere else.

The gardens outside are quite pretty, and put Lia in mind of spending a long time on makeup to appear to not be wearing any.

Envoy Solomon Reks-Faktori commented:  “The artificial lighting is artfully managed, but I prefer the natural look.  While I spend a lot of time inside, I find I miss not being able to easily and casually go outside.  It’s something I take for granted, and so I appreciate the more natural view.
