Outdoor Function Area

The Outdoor Function Area of Crystal Coast Resort comprises a lower corridor ring bordering a series of rooms, and an upper level used for large functions.

The function area is connected to both the vehicle park and main building by pressurised walkways.

The so-called ‘Outdoor Area’ is actually large oval building connected to the main resort and the vehicle park by pressurised corridors.  The building has a lower and an upper level.  The lower level has corridor ring with exterior windows that circles almost the whole building (except for a loading dock near the vehicle park where the corridor turns inward briefly.)  The corridor borders a series of rooms, some of which seem to be available for hire and other are related to resort service provision.  Service corridors marked ‘staff only’ lead deeper into the lower level.

Access to the upper level is via several escalator/elevator banks.  Although the upper level has an actual outdoor area with an open roof, a large part of the ‘outdoor area’ is actually indoors, beneath a clear dome devoid of visible supports and with a low level of reflection and refraction that makes the dome itself very difficult to see.

From somewhere, an artificial light breeze is blowing and the air has Mundo Zargo’s organic tang to it rather than the usual clinical indoor taste.

A typical Act:

A five piece band is preparing to play on a raised stage in the indoor section and recorded music is playing to accompany the set-up activities.  Drinks and food are being served and areas are marked out for sitting, standing and dancing.  Lighting is mostly low and discreet, provided by standing post lamps.  There are about thirty to forty people here when Oliver and Lia arrive, and more trickling in with and behind them.
