Summary

Mostly yes, but with these clarifications to your summary:

  • Imagine if the Commonwealth Bank, NAB, ANZ and WestPac all issued their own money as well as the Reserve Bank issuing ‘Standard’ notes, and if you want a credit card, you get one in your bank’s own money.
  • Plus, if an entity like BHP issued ‘Steel-backed notes’ or the Farmers’ Federation issued ‘Milk-backed notes’

Notably it may feel as though it’s a level of complexity applied to routine living that the average Dominion Mer simply doesn’t have to consider.

Also, Channing will clarify, should Oliver voice his summary or something like it, the Dominion only accepts conversion to the Dominion Money from the Standard, or trades in specie at going rates (should Oliver be thinking about a future return to Dominion space).

“DekaCycle – that’s ten Circads.”

Channing does some quick mental math.

“Eight or nine thousand Standards maybe.  Plenty of people get by on half or less of that.  Twice that ought to keep you comfortable.”

  1. Oliver Starr says:

Wealth table looks good to me.

He’ll nod and do some thinking himself. Wondering how long he might be here, what he might need to purchase on a whim if possible.

“I have 25,000 money I can give you. Can you do the exchange for that much?”
