I-139-Lia: Roseman, The Bounding Bush

Confusion – Metagame

That makes sense – and is valid as in-game as well as metagame confusion.

Scuttlebutt

So I looked up Scuttlebutt and it turns out that it is actually originally a naval term – the literal 1700’s shipboard version of the term ‘water-cooler conversation’.  Apparently, the Scuttlebutt was a barrel full of water with a hole in it for dipping a cup or ladle into, and which used to sit on a ship’s deck for the crew to drink from –  Scuttle (a hole or hatchway in a ship) + butt (a barrel).  The term ‘scuttlebutt’ comes from the sailors who used to stand around the scuttlebutt and gossip.

So spaceships in the Dominion no longer feel the need to resort to a communal wooden barrel for slaking their crews’ thirsts, so a more common term might be…?

The Bounding Bush

She pauses, doesn’t answer Lia’s question directly, “Zargo, new drug coming out of there.  We’re keeping an eye out for possible expansion into Three.”

  1. Lia Silver-Rose says:

Well we don’t exactly have water coolers on the ship 😜 Hence my question…. maybe something alcohol related?

    Understanding dawns on Lia’s face.

“Hang on, I did hear something about that in a bar on Zargo. Sounded a bit scary.”

I know this is something Lia has a sample of on the ship. Does she remember what it was called?
