Confusion – Metagame
I’m confused that you’re confused – which usually means that the GM is assuming something that isn’t actually clear to the player.
Ashik is asking Lia if Lia has heard any rumours relating to the sorts of things Ashik has been speaking of: Smuggling, criminal organisations and activity, piracy, or other strange goings on in nearby space.
Ashik has stated that she believes Lia may have heard something because:
- Lia has passed through Roseman on previous occasions, the unspoken assumption being that Lia must therefore be somewhat familiar with this part of space; and,
- Lia is a crew member of an independently-operated tramp freighter, and Ashik says in her experience those crews are more aware of local events.
Further to the above, I have assumed that Lia is attempting to appear innocent, but Lia actually does have knowledge of each of the four areas Ashik has mentioned, which is why I asked you to make the Acting roll.
Does that make sense? Questions?

I’ll put Ashik’s response on hold until you’re happy that things have been clarified.
Ah I see. I thought she was referring to a specific thing that had recently been occurring between Octants 3 and 7 and I had no idea what that might be, given there are several things that Lia is aware of but may not be aware is current gossip. Does that make sense?
I will keep Lia’s response as is but add this to it:
“Is there something that’s been happening lately around here? I’ve been on Zargo for a bit so might not have the recent skuttlebutt.”
P.S. Is there a spaceship equivalent of the word skuttlebutt?
