I-109-Oliver: Spanial, Karmen’s Cabin (N-Space to Captree Jump Point)

If there’s any implied disapproval in Oliver’s tone, Karmen either misses it or chooses to ignore it.

“No, ship’s already been paid for the runs where we collected these cards.  They’re all salvage as far as the accounts are concerned and that goes to crew.  Though, I’ll probably use my personal share to buy off more of the Bank’s share, a little more of Spanial for me an’ not the Overlord. 

“If I need to I sometimes invest my own money to prop up the float, but that can get messy accounting-wise, for sure, so I don’t like to do that unless the profit is likely to be really worthwhile.”

She realises that she’s shifted the subject slightly and comes back to what she thinks is Oliver’s actual question, “that means per what we’ve agreed that you’re entitled to a crew member’s share of the full amount of those cards.”

She pauses, assessing him, “and you can claim a Bringer Bonus if you want.  Means instead of a base-grade Comm/Scan Officer on a working passage, your share is calculated like you’re executive-grade, worth almost twice as much.”
