Enclavers and the Enclaver Hiatus

General knowledge of the Enclavers is that they are religious group associated with the moon Jensen in Octant 8.  The name comes from the original settlement on Jensen, which is a mostly hostile world except for a series of subterranean bio-enclaves which are habitable by humans (a part of which is the famous Rain Caves.)

The so-called ‘Enclaver movement’ prospered to the point where it took over the leadership of Jensen and petitioned for independence from the Dominion, citing the Separatists as precedent.  This was granted for a period of time, referred to as the ‘Enclaver Hiatus’, and Jensen became self-governing.

Jensen was the original Octant Capital but the Capital was shifted at the start of the Hiatus to Atavate.  After a period as an independent world, Jensen was peacefully reintegrated to the Dominion.  The Octant Capital remains at Atavate.

Following the reintegration came the ‘Enclaver Diaspora’ where many Enclavers migrated off Jensen and settled across the Dominion, though many moved to the newly opened colony of Harmony.

A number of Enclavers disagreed with reintegration, and there were a terrorist incidents following reintegration.  The somewhat mythical terror group The Insurgence is linked in the minds of many to Enclavers.

Enclavers are known for holding religious beliefs, whereas the Dominion is largely secular.  Many speak their own language – Enclaver.  Those who learn Enclaver as a first language often have an accent.  The terrorist events following reintegration have stigmatised Enclavers in the minds of many, and they are often regarded with suspicion and distrust.

There is a musical comedy based on the re-integration – Hummin’ in the Deluge
