Notes:

• I assume if/when we make high-tech weapons like the electrolaser the bit in the middle of the weapon will still be called the ‘receiver’, even though it won’t receive a cartridge and prepare it for firing as it does in a contemporary gunpowder weapon.
• Usually, contemporary weapons only have a barrel shroud if they generate a lot of heat, to protect the firer from burning themself on the barrel or as a cooling mechanism (eg some heavy machineguns pump water around the the barrel to stop it melting under sustained fire).  I figure an electrolaser would keep the emitter in a shroud so the firer doesn’t get electrocuted if they use the weapon while it’s raining.
  • For noting, Lia should probably avoid firing her ring with wet hands!

Shooting Range

When Lia gives Raina the challenging stare, Raina stares back, implacably.  I assume from your description, that Lia will then allow Raina that level of intimacy.

If you wish, you may roll Body Language.

Raina may or may not note those calluses, but so I can better judge that, what is their origin?

Lia will note Raina mentally adjusting from her right-to-left handedness to instruct Lia appropriately.  She comments on the difference between them.

She does hit the target on her try, prompting an affirming comment from Raina.  When she fires, the weapon makes a soft ‘crack’ sound and a blue/white beam spans the space between the weapon and target for a fraction of a second.
