Shooting Range
Ferris, nods in response to Lia’s smile.
Raina says, “we’ll start her off easy. Give her an electrolaser carbine. I’m due for shotgun as my next practice session, so set it up please, and I’ll take an electrolaser carbine as well.”
To Lia she says, “Ferris will be our Range Master, keeping us safe.
“Ferris, take her through the safety briefing then I’ll guide her through the basics.”
Ferris gives a briefing on safe gun handling and using the range, while Raina stands quietly by, not interrupting and also listening.
Then Ferris gives Lia a lightweight rifle and a battery magazine, and Raina takes Lia through how to operate it. She talks her first through the basic principles of how it works, “Electrolasers use a pair of low-power far-ultraviolet laser beams to create an ionized path through the air, then transmit an electrical discharge that follows that path to the target. They’re an electric stun gun that uses a laser beam.”
Then she shows her loading, aiming, grip and stance. This has all the opportunities for close physical proximity you might expect. Raina has not yet touched her own weapons, focussing on Lia.

Lia listens actively to the safety rules and when Raina explains the principles of the electrolaser rifle, she recognises the familiarity of weapon as it reminds her of her ring but on a far larger scale.
She is interested in the weapon itself but disappointed by it’s modern, non- shiny exterior. She has zero gun skill but she does possess High Manual Dexterity. No idea if that holds any relevance here.
Lia will no doubt have several questions as she is shown how to stand and hold the gun correctly. Does Raina touch her? Physically maneuver her into position?
