Getting to Know You
Senior Specialist Odelia Dizen-Brummagem-Hoit-Hieno is an F-class woman aged about 14 who seems to be the doyen of Captree restaurant society set; her official title is Dining Culture Specialist Advisor. Lia’s research indicates that the high-society name dropping is definitely a thing, as is the whole trendy/chic/upper class food-restaurant-club-entertainment venue thing. Lia’s estimation from Odelia’s appearances in media is that Odelia always presents well and is skilled in enhancing her average physical attractiveness through fashion and cosmetics.
The Proposal and The Producer
It would not be too difficult for Madison to know her real ID:
- It’s probable that Lia had to tag into building security, authorised by Madison, to play the wide-eyed assistant role.
- On order to message Madison, she would have had to use her PubNet message address, which Madison may have simply passed onto the producer on Captree.
- If she used her Winta page to contact Madison rather than messaging her, she’s then reliant on Madison checking the page, but even if that happened, Madison works for a news organisation – hey journalist Bob, find out who owns this page for me will you?
If she works out the usual times for a message to get from Captree to Zargonia and back (there’s a calculator on the Communications Bureau Net pages – it says average communications time one way is 10.9 Cycles), it seems Madison acted quite quickly.
In that case Lia will refresh her knowledge of relevant names to drop, checking how many she actually recognises and who is new to her before making overtures to Odelia.
She knows finding her name is not too hard, this was just one of those tiny crossed streams she now has to deal with.
She is both gratified and mildly alarmed at the speed of Madison’s assistance.
