H-129: Captree, Platters on the Esplanade

The place seems to be aiming for a mix of stylish-modern.  It looks, perhaps to be trying for the elegance and up-market that Lia may associate with establishments in a Resi Section, but not so much as to be intimidating to people not used to such things, and also not to have the occasional ‘stuffiness’ that can come with such places.  So far the limited interaction with the server has been pleasant and professional.  The place settings are stylish and upmarket, and seats comfortable as well as decorative.  Design does seem to have been optimised to take advantage of the views available in this location, and the room has an open feel – presumably so all the diners can see the windows.

Currently the place is a little over half full, there’s some noise from the other patrons reflecting off hard surfaces.  The tables are spaced out enough so it doesn’t feel the patrons are on top of each other.  The place has not opted for background music nor entertainment.

It looks like there is a small bar where patrons could order drinks rather than have table service, but it doesn’t look to be staffed right now.

With she and Cinna seated at a table at a window corner, there’s some external heat noticeable radiating from the glass.  The environmental systems do seem to be coping though.

If the food lives up to the promise of the menu, it should be quite good, but that remains to be experienced.  The wine is quite palatable, though not exemplary.

Any specific questions?

  1. Lia Silver-Rose says:

    No that covers everything, thanks!

She will take her time surveying all of the various aesthetics before returning her gaze to Cinna.

“Elegant but not stuffy, stylish yet accessible. They’ve used the space to advantage and there’s room for privacy. Staff are attentive and personable without being intrusive.”

    She smiles.

“If the food lives up to the menu, then I would say you’ve made a sound investment.”
