H-109: Captree, Platters on the Esplanade

Cinna will take the case with an appreciative nod.  She doesn’t immediately respond to Lia’s comment.

Lia (or Emerald) knows that Cinna’s not a ‘touchy’ sort of person and tends to avoid physical contact, but she does give Lia a momentary, steering guide that almost touches her elbow, so in a Cinna context, that’s entering together.

The restaurant is built on an extension from the side of the building, and there are windows on almost three sides.  The server leads them to a corner table with  views both out to sea and along the locally famous ‘Esplanade walk’ – a meandering stonework ribbon along the built-up shoreline with shops and a park on the landward side, and from which occasional stairways lead down to the variable patches of beach or rocks below.  The star is getting low in the sky and the window on that side has automatically tinted itself to shade them from the glare.

The server allows them to sit, turns glasses and pours cool water from a carafe on the table, asks if they would like drinks.

“Basi, the Russ ’09,” Cinna responds, looking enquiringly at Lia for her drink response.

Assuming and after Lia does, the server will leave to get the drinks.  Cinna will then pull out a fuzzer in a decorative slip cover from the small bag she is carrying and place it on the table.  She makes a small gesture to the case.

“So, what’s your assessment of the quality?”

To answer Cinna’s question, first roll two lots of 3D6 – this will give a high and low range of Kamphet’s samples she had to work with.

Then, roll vs Lia’s Geology or Jeweller skills (your choice), if she passes, the amount she passes by will allow her to adjust either the high range (for more good stones) or the low range (fewer bad stones) upwards (or downwards!), as you choose.

  1. Lia Silver-Rose says:

She will allow herself to be ‘led’ by Cinna. She will also take a moment to appreciate the view as they approach their table.

She will order a pinot grigio or equivalent.

Rolls: 10 & 8 for the high and low range.
    13 vs 14 for Jeweller.

Not entirely clear on what happens with the numbers now…
