Perhaps as an excuse to escape from the question he apparently wasn’t comfortable answering in full, ‘Loud-Attire’ uses Lia’s action to note that others are being seated, and gestures toward the table.  Lia has a sense that he might have liked to sit next to her, but being furthest from the table is relegated to left-over seats when the other three adopt his suggestion and move to sit.  The ‘son’ of this group moves quickly – perhaps overly so – and steps around Lia to seat himself at #5, noting that ‘Loud-attire’ can sit near his parents and continue the conversation.  ‘Father’ sits at seat #7 next to Lia and ‘Mother’ seats herself at #8.  ‘Loud-attire’s’ hand is forced and he apparently feels obliged to sit at seat #9.

As they move toward the table, the Steward who was serving their drinks follows and asks Lia if she would like anything?  Her empathy doesn’t give her a particularly good read on this person.
