So I’m thinking of the following uses for player stars:
Stars | Buys |
1* | Spend one star for advantage on your roll – before it’s rolled. |
1* | Spend one star for a re-roll of any roll – the re-roll result applies (but you may continue to spend stars for more re-rolls). |
2* [+ 1*] | Spend two stars to affect your success or any reaction roll outcome by one level (eg Critical Failure becomes Failure; Failure becomes Success, Success becomes Critical Success), one additional star for every level after the first. |
1* | Spend one star to affect a quantity roll of yours to either minimum or maximum; a common example of a quantity roll is damage, but might include such things as value of treasure or number of mooks encountered. |
1* | A GM Hint – spend a Star for a hint if you’re really stumped. |
1*+ | Something Nice – affect the world so that something non-dice related goes the player’s way (subject to GM approval/fiat – we’re talking plausible changes to reality, not instantiating the impossible) – GM will rule for number of stars based on context. |
6 ****** | Spend 6 stars to buy a character point for your character – expenditure must be justified. |
+1* | Spend and additional star to affect a roll for or by someone else where ‘your roll’ is specified above. |
Sounds good to me!
I endorse these options! I particularly like the 5 *** one, that sounds funky. 😀
