Namasia Markov-Wrikster Messages

Oliver quickly determines that the Envoy uses variations on the basic introduction that he wrote to Paro-Schwab for his introductory messages to candidates.  It’s apparent that the Envoy’s communication is the first formal notification to any of the candidates that they are being considered for the role – apparently you don’t ‘apply’ for a Governorship, you are just picked.

The Envoy’s interview with Markov-Wrikster has already taken place.  Neither man has given much away in their messages and the content is limited to formal exchanges organising matters and a simple follow-up of courtesies.

Phyllis Crough-Whittle Messages

Assistant Secretary Phyllis Crough-Wittle received the same boiler-plate introduction as the previous candidates.  She immediately, politely, declined the candidacy for Governor, but offered to assist the Envoy in getting to know Mundo Zargo and ‘the locals’, as she described it.  The Envoy expressed a desire to meet anyway and asked that she keep her rejection of the nomination private until after his decision had been announced.  He also noted that the Envoy and the Overlord’s Household does not comment on the selection process so, unless the Overlord chose to comment personally, no-one would know of her response unless she told them afterwards.  They did apparently meet, and maintained an occasional, casual correspondence afterwards; she recommended several local restaurants to him.

Zayaire Preston-Lischost Messages

Zayaire received the same generic introduction, advising him of his candidacy and seeking an interview.  He responded, noting that the Agriculture Convention would be taking place during the Envoy’s visit and inviting him to Crystal Coast Resort to see some of the work being done at the convention.  He mentioned a Martin Lindholm at the Agriculture Bureau as a contact to make any logistic arrangements necessary.  There is a follow-up exchange where Zayaire cc’s Lindholm and the Envoy cc’s Theodore Wasylow to organise things.  Zayaire’s meeting with the Envoy is scheduled for 211.458 at GB05, to finish by BR01.  

Priorities

I realised that I didn’t explicitly flag Shwanda Bakkur-Ophala-Jandicot-Oakey as a potential candidate in the previous message summary.  Just checking that that doesn’t change Oliver’s priorities?

Also, the above will take Oliver through to his lunch time to unpack as a sense of how long this process takes.  I figure he’s undertaking a semi-automated process where he’s using his knowledge to best apply different decryption and cracking techniques to each message.  So, he can somewhat multi-task – for example if Lia comes back at some point in her future (as he’s now a bit ahead of her and it might be Oliver’s past) they’ll be able to converse while he’s waiting for his laptop progress bar, but he can’t just leave stuff to run unless he invests a block of time to set that up.  Seem fair?

Further information:  The remaining, non-candidate message sets are mostly smaller and won’t take as long, though there is a larger correspondence with Under Marshall Gollins and a few more messages with Vizier Farbello that will be similar to the candidate blocks.
