G-036-LD: Lia’s Dream

There’s a pause before Raina answers, she’s obviously considering and she decides to answer the first part of Lia’s comment first.

“To your first point, that courage is one of the key things I look for in choosing my people.”

She pauses again, to Lia’s trained people-reading skills, she’s apparently not entirely comfortable making the following confession of a personal weakness, “But younger me was slower than I could have been learning the lesson about not shooting the messenger, and I have that reputation to overcome.”

There is another long wait, during which Lia can feel the full weight of her considerable personality directed at her.

“You’re not frightened of me?”

There’s a lengthy pause as Lia gives Raina her full attention. She tilts her head as she studies her frankly. Finally, she speaks.

Her voice is soft but clear.

    “I am not.”

    A beat.

    “Does that bother you?”
