F-626: Crystal Coast Resort, The Quartz Room
He pulls a slim and expensive looking PDA from a pocket, consults it.
“He’s registered with the Chak Championship Board with a low B ranking, that suggests a consistently above average and therefore probably regular player….”
He scans the PDA.
“There’s a note here from one of my researchers that he’s possibly a gourmand.”
He turns his attention to Oliver, “Other than when he was at the Household Preserve, he has been staying in hotels. Beside the security detail I mentioned earlier, I am not aware of anything specific.
“I know he has been taking basic precautions…”
By way of example, he pulls a flat black device from a side pocket of his jacket. Lia will recognise it as similar to the device she saw Martell use while they were conversing, and Oliver will recognise it as a pink-noise generator that defeats bugs and similar audio surveillance techniques. Oliver also knows that, while they still provide protection in a pocket, they work better if the device is in the open – it would be more effective if Zayaire put it on the table.
“Long-distance passive surveillance has been attempted and failed, to no great surprise. Nothing more intrusive has been attempted. It is known that his security detail vet his accommodations before he arrives. I would assume that there is some sort of additional security on his lodgings for when he is not there.
“Besides which, most of the really useful meetings he has had have been held in highly secure locations, like the Secretariat Building, the Vizierate Complex or the Legion Cast, so there has not been an opportunity to learn much from them.”
Zayaire waves the PDA in that air.
“I’ll pass on what details I have, but it is much thinner than I would like.”
Lia frowns slightly, pondering.
“You say he’s heterosexual but has never been married. Do you have any information on his relationships? The kind of women he has spent time with?”
