F-622: Crystal Coast Resort, The Quartz Room

“If you’ll excuse me I’m going to avail myself of the refreshments.”

He begins speaking as he pours himself a coffee and puts a couple of sandwich quarters on a plate before sitting at the round table, evenly spaced between Lia and Oliver.

“So, to business:  I have a little problem that I think you may be able to help me with.

“I don’t know if either of you have been paying attention to the local news, but you may be aware that Mundo Zargo’s Governor Haugh has been appointed to a position on the Secretariat of Octant 7.

“That has resulted in a lot of talk and jostling for position over who is going to replace Haugh as Governor of Mundo Zargo.  The deadline is approaching and as yet, no successor has been announced.  For some reason the Overlord’s Household is being unusually tight-lipped and seems to be leaving things until the last moment.

“Right now, there’s an Envoy here at this resort who, I am reliably informed, is empowered to make the decision on the new appointment. 

“Now, a number of well-connected people seem to think that I am a potential candidate for Governor and have been using their influence both here and on Zargonia to promote my cause.

“I was hoping to engage you both to use your skills to find out what the Envoy is thinking, and who the likely candidates really are, and if necessary and possible, try and influence their decision.”

He takes a bite of his sandwich as he allows them to process that and respond if they wish.
